The Poudre High School wrestling team closed the regular season on a high note Thursday night by crushing Longmont 56-9.
The Impalas won six matches by pin and 12 of 14 overall to head into next week's regional championships with some momentum. Poudre is the host school for the two-day regional meet which begins a week from today.
"I thought we wrestled great," Poudre assistant coach Jay Wieneke said.
Dylan Fader (103), Bobby Lang (119), James Twito (125), David Poche (160), Sam Gorton (171) and Eric Tonkin (heavyweight) recorded pins. Twito and Gorton had the shortest matches on the night, with Twito pinning Joaquin Botello in 50 seconds and Gorton putting Haddock away in 59 seconds.
Joel Klitch (112), Freddie Gallegos (130), Brandon Doyle (135), Alan Pace (140), Austin Hodgson (145) and Cory DeGroot (152) were Poudre's other winners.
