North Platte, Nebraska — May 13, 2006
Race Results-

The Mini-Sprints went twelve laps of their fifteen lap race before a caution flag, and it was definitely a flag leader Meddie Cote of Cozad did not want to see. He had a big lead on the field before the second place driver Bob DeRouchey of Ft. Collins, Colo., spun. On the restart, Cash Dash winner Josh Sabin of North Platte started second, and made a move to the front on the high side. The two came together in corner four, forcing both cars to spin, and taking them out of contention. Troy Douglas thought he won the lottery, as he inherited the lead. J. R. Way of Lexington was then in second place, but did not the right numbers dialed into the car to take the lead or the win away from Douglas. Cory Kelley and Trent Hansen of North Platte finished in third and fourth places, while Rick Putnam of Gothenburg rounded out the top five. Putnam and DeRouchey took the wins in the heat races.

Race Results-

The Mini-Sprints ran a clean feature, with only one stoppage of action on lap twelve for a disabled car. Jamey Kennicutt took off from his pole position starting spot and put a huge lead on the field. After the restart on lap twelve, he again extended his lead, only to be reeled in by Jeremy Herbst of North Platte. Herbst, who did double duty driving a Modified and Mini-Sprint that night, made up great ground on the Gothenburg driver, but came up about a car-length short at the finish line of denying him the win. Josh Sabin of North Platte finished in third place, while Rick Putnam of Gothenburg finished in fourth. J. R. Way of Lexington rounded out the top five. The three heat races were won by Kennicutt, Sabin, and Trent Hansen of North Platte. Bob Swedeen of Alliance won the B Feature race.

Race Results-

The Mini-Sprint A Feature win was decided after a restart on lap five when Trent Hansen flew by Toph Harmon of Holbrook. Harmon’s car broke, and his night was ended. Hansen drove out to a big lead when the caution flag flew again with four laps to go. That allowed Rick Putnam of Gothenburg to align right behind Hansen. Hansen was able to keep distance between he and the Gothenburg driver and picked up the win. Putnam was followed at the finish line by Meddie Cote of Cozad, Arden Myers of McCook, and Jamey Kennicutt of Gothenburg. Hansen, Myers, and Kennicutt were also the class heat race winners. Josh Sabin of North Platte won the Mini-Sprint B Feature.

The Mini-Sprint A Feature had some good mini sprints towards the front of the field. Jeremy Herbst of North Platte captured the lead on the opening lap and set the pace for six laps. On lap seven, Josh Sabin of North Platte found his way from row four to take over. It looked as though Sabin would have his way with the event, until Rick Putnam hit the rocket booster and caught Josh in the waning laps. With just a little more than one lap to go, Putnam zoomed by Sabin on the backstretch and drove on for the A Feature win. Sabin was followed at the line by Herbst and the North Platte duo of Trent Hansen and Troy Douglas. Herbst and Hansen were the heat race winners.

The Mini-Sprints pulled a topless surprise of their own, and ran without their top wings. They pulled another when they clicked off their twenty lap A Feature without a caution, and with all thirteen starters running at the finish. Toph Harmon, who won his first ever A Feature at Dawson County Raceway two weeks ago, jumped on the accelerator at the start of the race and took off with the lead. Point leader Rick Putnam of Gothenburg had to work some traffic to move up to second place with about five laps to go, but by then, Harmon had checked out and got the elusive Lincoln County Raceway win he has sought for at least the last three years. Jamey Kennicutt of Gothenburg finished the race in third place, ahead of Arden Myers of McCook and Jeremy Herbst of North Platte. Putnam and Cozad driver Meddie Cote won the Mini-Sprint heat races.

Race Results-

The Mini Sprint A Feature had a considerable amount of passing in it. Heat race and cash dash winner Toph Harmon of Holbrook paced the first three laps of the race in hopes of sweeping the night. Trent Hansen of North Platte, also a heat winner, had other plans as he powered by on lap four to obtain the lead. He would soon be joined up front by Jeremy Herbst of North Platte. Before the completion of lap twelve, Hansen lost power, handing Herbst the lead. Herbst didn’t get to enjoy it long, as Jamey Kennicutt found his way from row five to the head of the pack on lap thirteen. Despite two cautions late in the race, no one else was able to get to the front to challenge Kennicutt for the win. Herbst did hold onto second place, and Harmon stayed in third. Arden Myers of McCook finished in fourth place, while Josh Sabin of North Platte rounded out the top five.

The Mini Sprints went twenty laps in their A Feature without a caution period. Toph Harmon of Holbrook took the lead on lap three from John Webster of North Platte and drove out to a nice lead. Jeremy Herbst kept him in eyesight and found his way around Harmon on lap thirteen. Herbst led the last seven laps en route to the win. Harmon maintained second place. Trent Hansen of North Platte finished in third, ahead of Webster. Josh Sabin of North Platte rounded out the top five.

Race Results-

Toph Harmon of Holbrook was not looking for caution flags while leading the Mini Sprint A Feature. He had a nice lead when a caution period happened with five laps to go bunched the field up with him. Jeremy Herbst was actually gaining ground on him before the yellow, but being right behind him on the restart helped him get by Harmon with three laps to go. It was Herbst’s second win in as many Mini Sprint race nights. Jamey Kennicutt of Gothenburg also got by Harmon late to sneak into second place. Rick Putnam of Gothenburg finished in fourth place, and Meddie Cote of Cozad took home fifth place. Harmon and Trent Hansen of North Platte were the Mini Sprint heat race winners.

Jeremy Herbst must have been hiding a broom in his Mini Sprint. He first off won his heat race. He then took the top money in a wild cash dash that paid a combined $300 for the top six finishers. The drivers must have thought it was $300,000, because they wrecked six of the nine starters in one incident during that race. Much of that same hard driving was seen in the A Feature as well.
The A Feature was paced most of the way by Toph Harmon of Holbrook. He drove to the front early and had a big lead on the field, but a caution bunched everyone back up to him. A total of four cautions in the first nine laps helped keep everyone close. Had the A Feature been fifteen laps, as it has been some times this summer, Harmon would have taken the win. However, on lap eighteen, Herbst found a way by him. After stoppage of the race when Josh Sabin’s car got on it’s side, Herbst cruised on to his third win in a row. Harmon took the second spot.. Meddie Cote of Cozad survived many battles to take the third spot. Jamey Kennicutt of Gothenburg came from the back after an accident on lap nine to finish in fourth place. Trent Hansen of North Platte started in the last row of the race, and finished in fifth. Troy Douglas of North Platte and Meddie Cote were the other two heat race winners.

A scary wreck on the opening lap of the Mini Sprint A Feature had Nate Zeller and Eric Sargent of North Platte, and Jamey Kennicutt of Gothenburg , all flipping. Zeller was the driver most shaken up, but after some help getting out of his car, he walked to the ambulance for observation and later drove home under his own ability. Bob Swedeen of Alliance paced the race until another caution bunched the field up with six laps to go. That put Jeremy Herbst on his rear bumper, and on the restart, Herbst got by Swedeen for the lead. It was a lead he would not give up. Swedeen held on for second place. Trent Hansen of North Platte took the third spot. Cash Dash winner J. R. Way of Lexington finished in fourth, while Josh Sabin of North Platte took home fifth place. Swedeen and Cory Kelley of North Platte won the heat races, while the finish of Rick Putnam of Gothenburg helped him secure the points title for the Mini Sprints.
